3rd Annual Realtor Care Day April 8th Charlotte, NC.

The Charlotte area Realtors turn in their smart phones and I-pads for hammers and paint for one day every year. This will mark the third anniversary of Realtor Care day. It is our opportunity as Realtors to give back to the community. We volunteer 100% of our time for this one day event. Materials are donated or paid for by corporate donations. Last year we helped over 30 families with much needed repairs to their homes. The repairs ranged from brand new roofs, to painitng, yard work and other repairs needed.

This is my second year of volunteering and I am excited to be doing it again. For one day we all take our phones and put them in our car and work together as a team to help families in need. The best part of it, is the expression of gratitude you see from these homeowners for what we are doing for them. No amount of money can replace the joy a good deed can make you feel like.

Over 600 Realtors will be scattered throughout Mecklenburg and Iredell County for the day. You will see groups of people this year dressed in green t-shirts using hammers and paint brushes to help make someone's life a little easier.

Last year, I was able to help a family get a much needed roof on their home and a ramp for their handicapped child put in. Everytime I drive by there I realize the joy that made me feel and the reason I am in Real Estate...to help families realize the american dream.

Charlotte, NC. Among best Places To Retire

Yes it is true the Queen city was voted by Forbes Magazine as one of the best places to retire. Charlotte, NC. has so much to offer retirees as well as young professionals and families. When Forbes did the study it based it on certain attributes that made it decide where was the best places for people looking to spend their retirement.

Among the top reasons was the realtively low cost of living in Charlotte. Taxes are reasonable (some people might say they are cheap). Housing prices are relatively low and your purchasing power in Charlotte is at the highest it has ever been.

But, Charlotte also offers a lot of other great reasons for people to retire here. Weather was another factor. Becuase of our location just east of the Mountains and the fact we are far enough inland form the ocean; we do not get the extreme weather other parts of the country experinece. yet we do enjoy a beautiful fall, spring and summer months. The winters here are mild with a spot of cold for approximately 2 weeks every year. Otherwise the weather here is very conducive for outdoors people.

Third reason was activities. Charlotte area is home to 53 public gold courses and 22 private golf courses. In addition there are numerous parks and tennis courts scattered throughout Charlotte. Charlotte is a biker friendly town and has numerous greenways for people to enjoy a stroll through park like settings. In addition Charlotte is home to a professional basketball team (Charlotte Bobcats), Professional Football team (Carolina Panthers) Triple A baseball team (Charlotte knights) and a high end minor league hockey team (Charlotte Checkers).

If sports are not for you; Charlotte offers numerous musuems, art gallaeries, and is home to the Daniel Stowe Botantical Garden. In addition there is rarely a weekend where you can not find an event going on at one fo the many parks throughout Charlotte from arts and crafts to wine tasting. there is somethign goign on just about all the time for soemoen in Charlotte.

The last reason they gave Charlotte a high mark was the medical care. Charlotte has one of the top medical systems in the United States. With two major hopsital groups (Carolina medical Center and Presbyterian Hospital) positioned throughout Charlotte and numerous doctors and specialists in charlotte; healthcare is one of the fsatest growing areas of Charlotte right now.

Forbes magazine realized what so many people have realized for years. With the low cost of housing and the ample acitivites, coupled with the mild climate and the great emdical care....Charlotte is truly a Queen city for retirees.

Callonwood Subdivison--Matthews, NC. 28104

Callonwood Subdivison is located in the Union County side of Matthews. In fact some people classify it as Stallings so as to not confuse it with Matthews In Mecklenburg County. But this community which sits in Union County actually is part of Stallings. It hosts a Matthews Address because the Matthews Post office takes care of this area.

The neighborhood is made up of a mix of single family homes, estate homes and town homes. A majority of the homes built in Callonwood Subdivision were built by M/I homes. They built the homes to be energy efficient and pass the green test. In fact, If you talk to residents of this subdivision they will rave about the inexpensiveness of their utility bills.

The Callonwood Subdivison is conviently located off Pleasant Plains Road. It does have a back access off of Stallings Road as well. That makes the neighborhood more convient to shopping and easier access to highways.

The subdivision boasts an extraordinary clubhouse, recreation area and pool. In addition there is a walking trail, and a playground. The amenities for the community are excellent and the annual HOA fee covers the expense well. In fact, it is one of the least expensive HOA fees I have seen with the amenities you receive for you money.

These schools are among the HIGHEST RATED schools in Union County. Each has received the highest possible marks for excellence in schools.
