This time of the year I am always telling my four kids is the happiest time of the year for me as a parent. It is the time when we ramp back up for school.. Summer is just about over and the kids get back to the daily learning and enriching of their minds (at least we hope so). So, as we finish our back to school supply shopping, clothes shopping and those last minute getaways....Matthews, NC. hosts a fun family filled event to kick off the end of summer and the beginning of school.
Part of the Matthews summer movie/concert program; on Saturday August 20, 2011 at stumptown park in downtown Matthews they will have a FREE movie ( tangled) and other activities and games for the kids. In addition there are vendors there offering various foods....
if you have never been to one of their concerts/movies you do not know what you are missing. the activities start around 6 p.m. and the movie starts around dusk (usually 7:30ish). Bring a picnic lunch, some lawn chairs and have fun....
they have moon bounce and other games for the kids at no charge....There is usually a clown there making balloon animals for the kids and other assorted activities to keep the kids entertained.
My family and I have made it a yearly tradition over the past several years and even though my kids are getting older they still look forward to the going to the park for the school kickoff.....
Here is the link for the event..... http://www.matthewsnc.com

Rent V. Buy in Charlotte, NC.? Which Option Is Better?
The question is asked each and everyday by prospective home buyers...Should I rent or should I purchase a home? What is the best route for me to go? That question has many answers. But for the sake of this blog...we will say you have the down payment and your credit score qualifies you for a home purchase.
I see a lot of young couples and professionals moving to the Charlotte, NC. area. The reason is that they are either being transferred to here or they are coming here for a new job. One of the things they all ask is should I rent or should I buy?
Now, everyone is different. Sometimes your needs and wants do not translate into buying right away. But if you are wanting to buy but on the fence to whether you should pull the trigger and actually look at homes and buy....you need to consider a few factors.
What would I accept for a rental? By this how many bedrooms and bathrooms must the place have? Does it have to be in certain area? Am I looking for amenities? Space? is my things going to fit or am I going to have to get a storage unit as well? What am I willing to pay a month for rent?
The answers to those questions coupled with what you are looking for to purchase and how much you are willing to spend along with the same questions above can give you a good comparison as to affordability and whether it is less expensive to rent or own.
Trulia posted their second quarter numbers for rent versus buy yesterday. Charlotte ranked right in the middle. Rent was slightly less expensive but home ownership still may be a better option. Why?
Interest rates are at historic lows. With the federal government stating it will not raise the interest rate until 2013 has kept the rates historically low. That coupled with the fact home prices in Charlotte, NC. are at 2006 levels (according to numerous studies out there) has made it even more affordable for people to own a home.
So, even though Trulia states on an average 2 bedroom rental is slightly cheaper to rent than own the option is still one that they say you should consider buying versus renting. This trend has held true throughout most of 2011.
I have helped many new homeowners realize the dream of home ownership versus renting....In all cases they have lowered their monthly payments to less than they were paying in rent.
If you are renting now or moving to Charlotte area and thinking of renting you may want to consider looking into buying a house....It may cost you less than it does to rent.....

New Listing: 2605 Daffodil Drive Charlotte, NC. 28269
This 3 bedroom 2 full bath ranch home located in the Heather Place subdivision of Charlotte is looking for the next family to call it home. priced to sell at only $84,900 this home features just over 1200 square feet of living space with a one car garage located on a cul de sac lot.
The homeowner is the original homeowner and had this home built in 1998. When you walk in the front door you are instantly greeted by the foyer area of the house and the large great room. An added feature and benefit of the great room is the high cathedral ceilings in the room...Off the great room is the dining area of the house and the kitchen.
The dining area is good sized and comfortably will sit the whole family down to eat. The kitchen is spacious and open. A very well designed kitchen it offer a lot of counter space and cabinets. The kitchen also has a nice sized pantry and all the appliances convey with the house. A few features i liked and noticed right away about the kitchen was it's openness to the great room. It makes it a great place to cook while entertaining or talking with the family. The pass through and two separate entrances give it an open feeling.
On the opposite side of the house is the bedrooms. the master bedroom is surprisingly large for this house. The room can easily fit a king sized bed and couple of dressers and still give you space to walk around. Once in the master bedroom you will certainly be impressed with the walk in closet. large enough to hold all of your clothes. next to the walk in closet is the master bathroom. This bathroom offers a separate shower stall and a garden tub for those nights you want to just sit and soak in peace and tranquility.
off the master bedroom is the two additional bedrooms. they are both good sized bedrooms and offer ample space for a growing family. The front bedroom has a cathedral ceiling and a large window bringing in a lot of beautiful natural light into the room.
In the hallway between the bedrooms is the second full bathroom which offers a tub/shower combination. This is the other full bathroom in the house.
Going out the back patio door off the great room the first thing you notice is the lot. being located on a cul de sac location the lot is pie shaped. So it starts out narrow at the top and branches out toward the back. Great for families with children. The back of the yard has been fenced in along with the bordering neighbors. You quickly notice the depth the yard has to offer and the privacy ti brings. the trees offer shade and additional privacy....
besides the great features this house has it is on a cul de sac lot allowing children to ride the bikes or play in the cul de sac without having to worry about too many cars coming through. it also is so close to I85 that commuting to uptown or toward the university area is only a 10 to 15 minute ride.
Many people have called heather Place in Charlotte home....And those same people are still there. This is the only home in the neighborhood on the market today...in fact it is the only home in the neighborhood that has been for sale in the past 2 years. So, many people have called heather place home and none of them leave....So, come by and see why heather place is such a great neighborhood to live and raise a family.......
