Are Schools Important When Selling your Charlotte Home?

As we head into the spring selling season; I have been getting more and more phone calls from buyers out of the area looking for specific types of homes. nothing unusual with their requests... However; just about every one of them say and "we want good schools". So, are schools important? My answer is yes. Charlotte Mecklenburg Public School system is the largest one in the state of North Carolina. They have 37 schools that were recognized last year as schools of excellence and 7 high Schools were recently named among the top 1300 high Schools in the country by Newsweek magazine.... As much as we do not want to admit it; schools make a difference when you buy and when you sell your home in Charlotte, NC. Education is so important in today's worlds that parents are looking for the best deal in the best school area they can afford..... I just had a buyer who mentioned to me that they thought a home was priced low for what was inside of it. We went and looked at the house; loved it and were prepared to negotiate an offer on the house. Then they looked up online to see how the schools the house was assigned to were rated and calleed me and said they were walking away from the house becuase fo the school choices.... So, if you are looking to sell your house do some research and see how the schools fare. You can have a nice house in a great neighborhood. However; the value of the house can be greatly affected by the schools you are assigned to in that area. Dave diCecco Realtor/Broker www.davedicecco.com
