Does Having An Experienced Realtor Help In Selling Your Home?

A lot of people think that it does not matter if you have been in the Real Estate business for a few weeks or a few years when it comes to helping them sell a home. We all have access to the same information and with that information we all can do the same thing.... Well I agree to a point on that I do not totally agree with that premise. I think someone with sales experience and negotiation experience can offer a better value than someone who is making a career change or fresh out of school. For a long time I have contended that experience pays off when it comes to selling a home. An experienced Realtor has been through the trial and errors to make it a successful business and thus knows how to get homes sold..... Well I was given a copy of an article from the Wall Street Journal this week that helped support the premise that experience makes a difference. And that difference can be a substantial amount of money when you look at the overall picture of selling a home. In this recent study it found that experienced agents sold homes for an average of 12% more than their less experienced counterparts. The more experience you have also plays into the fact that you will list more homes, sell them at a higher profit and for a shorter period of time than someone with no experience. An experienced Realtor will sell homes 32% faster than non-experienced Realtors and are 1.6 times more likely to successfully sell a listed home. Ironically these are based on the fact that both experienced and rookie agent’s average list price for the areas were comparable and showed no significant difference. When you are looking to sell your home you should ask how long they have been in the business and what their sale price and time on the market are. These are all factors in getting a home sold and not sold. Dave diCecco Realtor/Broker Helen Adams Realty Cell: 704-519-7895 ddicecco@helenadamsrealty.com www.davedicecco.com
