the fourth of July is always a big day of celebration. As a country we recognize our independence on that day. Charlotte, NC. and the surrounding areas host various fireworks and events during the weekend. To help you decide I have compiled a list of the local events going on this coming weekend in honor of the fourth of July in Charlotte.
The biggest event is the Red White and Boom held on the Fourth of July every year. Held at Memorial stadium in uptown Charlotte it is a great family event and an awesome fireworks show. Tickets for the fireworks show in the stadium usually sell out so get them early if you can. Family activiites start at 4p.m. and last to 9:00p.m. Then one of the largest fireworks displays in the southest comes to life at 9:30p.m. I have had the priveledge to experience this event one year and it is well worth it. They have live music, games, vendors and activities for kids and adults alike.
If you do not want to deal with uptown you can also venture over to the whitewater center. An awesome expeirnce in itself; however; during the weekend from July 2-4 they will be having live music for FREE. Yes I said for FREE starting at 4p.m. and running to 10p.m.. You do have to pay $5.00 for parking but the whitewater center is a great place to visit and now you can listen to various live bands at the same time this weekend.
Another great family activity to do on the fourth of July is to visit the Charlotte musuem of History.Open from 11a.m. to 3p.m. on this day admission is FREE as they teach you about the birth of our country through a colonial perspective and have various games and activities for the family that day. I especially enjoy it becuase you can bring a picnic lunch with you and enjoy the musuem and spend time with your family and it does not cost anything on that day.
There are local towns and attractions also holding fourth of July events this year as well.Tomorrow I will list the other fourth of July events going on in the towns surrounding Charlotte.
